🎮 MacDisplayer / PCDisplayer – How It Works

What Is It?

MacDisplayer / PCDisplayer is designed to let you view your console — or any external video source — on your Mac or PC via USB.

There are free alternatives like OBS, but this app is completely plug and play.

It is optimized for:

  • Near-zero latency

  • Seamless performance

  • Working as if your Mac or PC display were a real external monitor

What Do You Need?

Step 1 – Check Your Computer

First, check whether your computer has HDMI input (not just HDMI output).

  • On PCs, some models may support HDMI input.

  • On Macs, this is very unlikely — but check anyway.

If your computer has video input, you're good to go.

If it does NOT have HDMI input (or video input via USB / Thunderbolt), you will need a video capture card.

Any inexpensive capture card from Amazon will work fine.

AI Intelligent Upscaling

The app includes an intelligent AI-based rescaling system to provide the best possible clarity and definition.

It may be subtle, even imperceptible —
but it’s there, improving image quality behind the scenes.

How to Connect

  1. Connect your console to an HDMI cable.

  2. Connect the HDMI cable to your capture card.

  3. Connect the capture card to your Mac or PC via USB.

That’s it.

VSync Settings (Important)

Set VSync to:

  • 30 FPS

  • Or 60 FPS

Depending on what your capture card supports.

Some cheaper capture cards only output 30Hz (30 FPS) or less.

If your capture card supports 60Hz:

  • You can enable 60 FPS mode

  • The app includes a system that attempts to generate additional frames for smoother motion

However, if you notice:

  • Ghosting

  • Visual artifacts

  • Strange motion behavior

Switch back to VSync 30 FPS.

Sometimes it will look more stable and cleaner that way.

On Mac Disable Reactions: This causes the 1 second lag because it looks for "hands" in the video. Press the green button with the camera in the menubar and disable all those background video and audio processes the first time.

Gamma Adjustment

If needed, adjust the gamma:

  • On Mac → Automatic

  • On PC → Manual

You can set it to your preference.
Gamma at 1.0 is usually well balanced.

That’s it.

MacDisplayer / PCDisplayer is built to be simple, fast, and reliable —
just connect everything and use it like a real external display.
